Haley's Fairy Garden

We had a blast making this fairy garden! I have seen so many cute ideas on Pinterest as well as on Etsy, that we just had to make one. Now Haley AND my husband say that they want more of them around!

This is such a fun and easy project to do with the kids! Have them pick out any plants, toys, miniatures, etc. that they want! (Pick indoor/outdoor plants so that you can continue to enjoy it when the weather is not so nice!) And go after it!

Materials Used:
(1) large pot
(1) Small bag of Moisture Control Potting Mix
(1) Small Bag of Peat Moss (I used this for the first half of the pot so that it wasn't so heavy with just the soil.)
Any Indoor/Outdoor Plants and Succulants
(1) Bag of Large Rocks (I got them at the Dollar Store since all the rocks outside were buried in the freezing snow!)
(1) Bag of Small Pebble Rocks (Dollar Store)
(2) Bags of Natural Decor (peat moss, strings, grass mixed from Michaels)
Colorful Washi Tape for the banners
Bare Wood Stick Bird (Michaels)
Acrylic Paint (to paint the bird)
String
Tree Branch
Lots of Miniatures! Use whatever your heart desires!

Handy New Wall

Our kitchen is on the verge of a major reconstruction this summer. But before we do the major work, I was in desperate need of re-doing this blah wall.

We added the chalkboard wall, which we built separately and then hung. I have one shelf on the top for markers, coupons, etc... and one shelf on the bottom for the chalk! And since we built it separately and didn't do the chalkboard paint directly to the wall, we now have the option to move it in the future! I also added a new calendar that I made from an old picture frame and scrapbook paper. Now we have a nice dry erase calendar instead of the ugly paper ones hanging. Add a couple of cork boards on either side of the calendar and done!

Now we have a major go-to station that we keep our grocery list on, coupons, dates and bills. Plus, Haley is entertained drawing on the board while we are cooking!

Living Room Remodel

Our living room was once a huge mess with the old, ugly carpet that was in there. Finally, we found the time to rip it out thinking that we would put a laminate down. We luckily found beautiful hardwood that looked like it was in perfect shape to re-do. Here is the process:

Starting out
After sanding for an entire day
One coat of stain
Adding and painting floor boards as well as old base board heaters and walls.

Finally finished! One week of hard labor paid off!

About Me

Ok.....
So, I am finally jumping on board with this blogger madness! I am constantly finding more and more blogs that I absolutely fall in love with.  I have read so many blogs that inspire me on a daily basis, and I have always thought that it would be a great outlet for myself. It is, for sure, more than confusing at first. And, I am by no means a pro at this. So please stick with me and see what happens!

A bit of info about myself:

I am a third generation Montanan, born and raised in Red Lodge.  After briefly moving away, I found myself back in this wonderful little ski town again. My husband and I are now raising a beautiful daughter in this close-knit, cozy, peaceful place. And I couldn't be happier.

I am a work-from-home mom, either working at home or bringing Haley, my daughter, into another office with me. I am the luckiest ever. Even though it gets a little hectic at times, being with my little one while working is the best.

In my spare time there are more than enough things to keep me busy. I am always finding something to change about our home or find fun projects to do with Haley. We bought our home almost four years ago, and I am constantly wanting to change something everyday it seems. I have had many dreams about what I want this house to look like ever since we moved in. We have updated a lot since we have been here, but there is so much left! So, I will be posting all of my projects on here as well as crafts, food and whatever else my heart desires!

I hope you enjoy!

Mackenzie
